المستهدف: أصحاب متاجر المواد الغذائية في قطر
هل تعلم أن ما يعادل حمولة شاحنة من البلاستيك يقام برميه في المحيطات كل دقيقة؟
وهل تعلم أن بحلول عام 2050، ستكون كمية البلاستيك في مياه البحار أكثر من كمية الأسماك؟
هل تعلم أن البلاستيك لا يختفي، بل يتحلل إلى جزيئات ينتهي بها الحال في أطباقنا وأجسام أطفالنا الصغيرة.
سنة 2016، أثبتت دراسة من جامعة قطر أن جزيئات البلاستيك منتشرة بشكل كبير في المياه البحرية القطرية.
الأكياس البلاستيكية هي العامل الاساسي لهذه الظاهرة، واستخدام هذه الأكياس هو شيء يمكننا تغييره معاً. و قد تم بالفعل منعها في عديد من الدول.
هدفنا أن تتخلى المتاجر (سوبرماركت) في قطر عن الأكياس البلاستيكيّة وتوفير بدائل متعددة الاستعمال، ولكن لجعلهم يصغون لنا نحن بحاجة إلى أكبر عدد ممكن من التواقيع.
رسالتنا لأصحاب تلك المتاجر في قطر هي:
نحن وعملائكم نطلب منكم أن
1. توقفوا و بسرعة وضع الأكياس البلاستيكية عند الكاشير. وتوفير أكياس بديلة قابلة للإستعمال أكثر من مرّة ومستدامة (مثل أكياس الجوت).
2. إستبدال الأكياس المستخدمة للفواكه والخضروات الحالية بأخرى قابلة للتحلل العضوي ويمكننا استخدامها أكثر من مرة.
3. البدء بتوفير أنواع مختلفة من البضائع التي يمكننا استخدامها أكثر من مرة ووضع خطة زيادة المبيعات بالجملة والتخفيض من التعليب، لا سيما التعليب في مشتقات البلاستيك.

هذا الطلب هو من دافع حبنا لدولة قطر ونكُنُّ لها كل التقدير.
نأمل من كل متاجر قطر أن يبذلو ما في وسعهم لحماية طبيعة قطر الخلابة وبحارها الغنية.
أطفالنا يستحقون عالماً نظيفاً.

Around the world, enough plastic to fill a truck is dumped in the oceans every minute.
By 2050 there will be more plastic in the sea than fish.
Plastic doesn't disappear, it decomposes into micro-particles that end up in our plates and in our children's tiny bodies.
A 2016 Qatar University study has shown that microplastics are already very widespread in Qatar's marine waters. Plastic bags are one of the main culprits. The use of plastic bags is something that we can change. They have already been banned in many countries.
Our goal is to have supermarkets in Qatar stop the distribution of plastic bags and offer reusable sustainable alternatives. But for them to hear us, we need your support to gather as many signatures as possible.
Our message to the supermarkets operating in Qatar:
We, your customers, ask that you
1. Quickly stop providing plastic bags at your cashiers and offer alternatives that are reusable and sustainable (such as jute)
2. Replace the plastic bags currently used for produces with bags that are compostable and reusable
3. Start offering a variety of reusable products; plan on increasing selling in bulk and on decreasing packaging
