Residents within the Wildwood Community made a choice to call Wildwood home because of the current feel of the community. The feel of the community is defined first and foremost by single family detached homes nestled amongst mature trees surrounded by lush greenspace with safe access to schools and parks.
The current Westbrook Communities LAP project will languish the beauty and vibrancy the current neighborhood bestows and push out many of the existing residents.
This densification plan is not supported by all the residents and we feel the information given by the city has been deceptive. Under the plan, every single lot in Wildwood can be developed with 2 semi-detached homes, both with basement suites, which essentially equates to a 4-plex. We need transparency and clarity!
This petition will represent a small sample to determine if a majority of Wildwood residents do not support the Westbrook communities LAP Project as it pertains to the densification of Wildwood. If a majority of residents do not support this project we will present it at the city council meeting on Dec 8th, 2022. If we achieve a critical mass before Jan 17th, 2023, the petition can be referred to during the presentation at city council as proof of opposition.
We need more time to consult the residents before implementing drastic changes that will affect each resident in Wildwood over the next 30 years. Delaying the LAP project will give us more time to construct a full petition and communicate with stakeholders in other communities in the LAP that are comprised of single family detached homes.
Together we can conserve the future of our Wildwood community.
