Coercing Prisoners to Sell Their Organs for Freedom Is Horrific and Wrong.

Just when you thought the criminal justice system in the United States couldn't get any more inhumane, a proposed piece of legislation could make it worse.

A terrifying new bill in Massachusetts would give prisoners shorter sentences - in exchange for organ or bone marrow donations. People who are incarcerated should not be forced to literally sell their body for freedom, and we must do everything in our power to stop this bill from passing!

Sign now to demand the Massachusetts state legislature vote no on this dystopian bill!

The high number of people waiting for a medical organ transplant is not the fault of people behind bars, nor should we harvest their bodies as a solution. There are other ways to incentivize organ and blood marrow donations from civilians that do not involve coercing some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

To be clear, prisoners around the country should have their sentences reduced. The United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world. In fact, there are more people in prison than there are farmers in this country!

Experts and reformers have been advocating for reduced sentences and restorative justice approaches for years, but shorter sentences should not come with the price tag of literal human body parts.

People who are in prison deserve dignity, not a deal to sell part of themselves to get free. Tell the Massachusetts state legislature to vote no on this horrific bill, and find other ways to reduce prison sentences and incentivize organ donations! Sign the petition now if you agree!
