Dear Committee Members:
We the undersigned are writing to you asking for the reprinting and continued printing of the sold-out Spay/Neuter stamps, which feature pictures of Samantha the shelter cat and Kirby the shelter dog.
These stamps are a wonderful way to raise awareness for the innocent animals who have no voice and suffer the tragic consequences of the animal companion overpopulation crisis due to human ignorance, irresponsibility and neglect.
The amount of unnecessary pain, suffering and death inflicted upon our beloved dogs and cats due to overpopulation is incalculable, as are the human misery and monetary cost involved in the rescuing, sheltering, medically treating and all too frequently, killing of surplus animals whose births never should have happened. Responsible spay/neutering is the humane, sensible approach to resolving this inexcusable failure of society.
Perhaps, one day soon, through the efforts of ongoing responsible human intervention, well effectively mandate, on a national level, the spay/neutering of all dogs and cats in this country (excepting those exempted for appropriate reasons). The continued awareness raised by the Spay/Neuter stamps will surely play a prominent role in helping to achieve this morally imperative goal.
