Tell Kirk Cameron That Homophobia is Destructive, Not Homosexuality!

Kirk Cameron was once a 1980s teen star on "Growing Pains", and now he is a conservative christian who is no stranger to hate speech.

In a recent Piers Morgan interview, he said that homosexuality is "unnatural" and "destructive". On marriage equality, he said that marriage is defined by God as between a man and a woman. And when asked what he would do if one of his children was gay, he said he would tell them that just because a person feels a certain way, doesn't mean they should "act on it".

During a time when people are taking their own lives because they are gay, being bullied, and having hate crimes committed against them, this kind of discourse is not only hateful, offensive, and wrong, but it's also dangerous.

Bigotry under the guise of religious views is still bigotry. Religious beliefs of a few should not stop people from having equal rights.

Please tell Kirk Cameron to apologize for his comments and stop using his large audience to voice hatred.

I am writing to you today to ask that you stop using your large audience that comes from being an actor to voice hatred against the LGBT community, and to apologize for your previous comments. I understand that your religious views account for your views on homosexuality, but hatred under the guise of religious views is still hatred.

We will all be looking forward to your apology.
