Urge the leaders in the city of Minot, and perhaps your own city, to plant more trees in our parks and boulevards.
The city of Minot has been named as a "Tree City" for the past 16 years. This is exactly what the city lacks...trees! Many of the trees in our parks have had to be destroyed because they were diseased or destroyed in a storm, street construction has made it necessary to cut down trees on our boulevards...those streets, now in operation for many years, are treeless.
We all know that trees give us cleaner air and help to reduce the rates of asthma due to the cleaner air quality.
May the leaders and citizens of this great city...your great cities too...understand that they can and should make an effort to make their cities "tree cities". May they plant a number of trees every year to provide cleaner air...should they have to destroy some trees for any reason may they replace them with other trees as soon as possible.
Dear Honorable Mayor Curtis Zimbleman and Members of the City Council and Park Board Members:
We the undersigned urge you to consider planting more trees in the city of Minot's parks and recreation areas. This wonderful city has been named a "Tree City" for 16 years and what this city now lacks is trees.
Trees provide for cleaner air as they filter out impurities in the air and reduce the number of people suffering from asthma.
Trees are also very beautiful to look at, they just make us feel better all around.
A number of trees had to be destroyed in our parks and on our boulevards in the past few years for a number of reasons. I would like you to consider planting new trees in those parks, please replace every tree that was destroyed with a new tree to keep the parks beautiful places to visit and enjoy. Urge citizens to plant trees in their yards and on the boulevards to make this city truely a wonderful "Tree City".
Thank you for considering this petition.
