Boone County NEEDS A Humane Officer.

At the present time all animal abuse, neglect and cruelty complaints go to the sheriff's department.  Several times when they were called the officer who is authorized to handle these cases was in court or on a "human related" case and could not respond.  Time is of the essence in a lot of these complaints and needs to be handled immediately.
There are two men who work in a capacity as animal control now employed at the county pound.  One of these men could be given the authority to handle these complaints, with the ability to write tickets, seize animals and enforce laws in place.  Since the commission does not want to hire an additional person; utilize the manpower they have now and give the animals in Boone County a fair chance.
