Greetings All,
My name is Obai Rambo. I am diligently working on a Budget Cut March/Grassroots movement against the State of California for cutting funding to our UC, CSU and CC%u2019s. This %u201Cmarch%u201D that I am assembling will occur on March 15, 2010 in Sacramento. This amazing effort has two different fronts; a financial grassroots movement, and a organizing planning effort. The grassroots effort will be headed by Ms. Tangie McDonald, and the planning effort will be headed by me. The grassroots effort will be engaging in a lot of field work, both canvassing and petitioning. The planning effort will be creating strategies for the march, networking with other schools, and advertising. My vision is very simple, balance our States budget on education, and take California%u2019s Education deficit from the red back into the black. Furthermore, I see this as what could possibly be the biggest movement/march for education in California history. This march/movement will not be limited to only students across our State, but also parents and education professionals are welcomed to join. Currently I am assembling my cabinet here in San Francisco. If you or someone you know is interested in this project and would like to become a leader in your city or school do not hesitate to contact me via email, AIM or Facebook.
Together we can make change.
Best,
Obai A. Rambo

By signing this petition I, California Resident, declare that:
I believe in the promise that education holds for all people, and by signing this petition I demand that my voice is heard!
My fellow statesmen, by the year 2014 the job market in the State of California will be nearly unobtainable if we have not earned a B.A. /B.S. degree. With that being said, the stressed urgency of obtaining an education must be met. Yet, our State has cut funding to our educational facilities and has gone forward with the construction of more prisons. Are lawmakers expecting an unprecedented amount of people to flood our prisons? Understand that this movement is not only trying to raise awareness for the injustice committed to California students education in light of ongoing budget cuts, but this movement%u2019s mission is to assist in creating a fiscal backing for future problems and to put in place a new system that will make every students quality of education equal. No longer can we as a society allow the wrong doings of our politicians go unchecked. The majority of our elected officials have ignored the fundamental element of any great society, education. Our prisons serve as an embarrassing testimony of our societies inability in assisting the have not%u2019s. Our brother%u2019s and sister%u2019s that, if given the same educational opportunities that other students in more financially privileged area%u2019s of our State, would have been able to positively contribute to our society, instead of being labeled as the scourge of it.
So the burden of fixing the educational system that our State has failed to carry out has fallen upon us. We must start the process of creating a system that will make it so any child can obtain a good public school education as easy as obtaining a cell block. This is the defining moment that a president who has broken barriers orated about. We are the dream that the last son of a political dynasty still had faith in, but we must grab hold this era of change and make our voices heard. Every critical moment in history is not only defined by the accomplishments of the moment, but rather it is defined by the people that make those accomplishments happen. So let it be with this movement. We will recreate our broken system; assist our elected officials with the succinct and well thought-out system that the people have created which should be implemented to better our Western society. No more, will over half of a minority occupy prisons more than attending a university. No more will the concept of being disadvantaged because a student lives in an underrepresented area go unchecked. Let us all show what we are made of. Let this new era of change be the change that truly is for the many instead of just the privileged few. Now is the time for us to meet this problem, now is the time for us to formulate a solution that is not just the traditional quick fix, now is the time to let Democracy reign throughout our State%u2014and now is the time to set an example for our great Nation.
