Curfew Laws in Santa Clarita

· This law does not just target the "juvenille/lawbreaking" minors it targets all teenagers:
o Teen's leaving from a late night movie.
o Teen's on their way home with no intention's of soliciting or lawbreaking.
o Our Parents might have to go out of there way and deal with this unrightful law because the concert we went to ran a little late.
o And many other reason's.
Also research shows that juvenile curfew laws have failed to achieve their intended objectives of reducing juvenile crime and victimization. Explanations for the ineffectiveness of curfews are that juveniles commit a relatively small proportion of overall crime; most juvenile crime occurs at times when curfews are not in effect; many juveniles do not comply with curfew laws; and the effects of curfew crackdowns on crime have little effect over the long term. Second, curfews are inefficient. Police resources are relatively fixed and limited, so officers engaged in curfew enforcement are not available for other duties that may be more effective in controlling crime. For example, an officer involved in processing a curfew violation is not available to respond quickly to a potentially violent domestic conflict. Third, curfews are inconsistently enforced and potentially discriminatory. To my friend's Full curfew enforcement is neither possible nor desirable, which means it inevitably involves officer discretion and selective enforcement. E.g. A police officer pulled up behind 6 friends of mine and myself, 5 of us were let go while my friend with several tattoo's some just art and others with meanings suck as.. "See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil" and his friend of hispanic ethnicity and with a facial piercing were forced into the back of the police car where they were then accused of being involved in a gang called ICP(Insane Clown Posse), while this is happening my white friends and i were just told to go home with the person we arrived with while the officer was well aware that he was not legally eligible to drive us. Fourth, curfew enforcement can involve counterproductive escalation of sanctions. Curfew laws carry sanctions that add financial and emotional stress on parents/guardians and their interactions with their children, and it can lead to the incarceration of chronic offenders.  I believe that if we should have a curfew, it should be given to us by our parent's or guardian's. Johnson (1908-1973) 37th U.S. President (1963-1969.) This nation was built on the idea of personal rights and freedoms A.K.A our individual right's which refers to the liberties of each individual to pursue life and goal's without interference from other individual's or the Government. Curfew law's completely go against our individual rights. Our forefathers left England to get away from oppressive law, and here you are contradicting it before us. This city along with many others have decided to voluntarily restrict us minor's from living our lives.
