Is the Ga. Animal Protection Act just an 'act'?

This petition has been created for the purpose of requesting a 'town hall' type meeting with the Ga. Animal Protection Division management.

The Animal Protection Division was created in 1986 for the purpose of enforcing the regulatory duties of ensuring that all housed animals in Georgia are receiving the humane care that they are entitled to, and required by state law, to receive.  Currently, and for many years prior, this is not happening within establishments licensed under the Animal Protection Division.

We feel it is time that this regulatory agency be held accountable for the numerous inadequacies of their job requirements on behalf of the housed animals in Georgia.  While these animals cannot speak for themselves, their obvious suffering has been brought to the attention of this state's taxpaying citizens.

We, the animal community of this state, would like to meet with this regulatory agency's management employees, to include Deputy Commmissioner Terry Coleman, Animal Protection Director Mary Greene, Office Manager Venessa Sims-Green, and north Ga. Field Supervisor Ray Deluca.

The purpose of this meeting will be to ask questions of this regulatory agency in regards to the true protection of all of our housed animals in Georgia.
