This petition is for the purpose of pressuring the FCC to create a "Journalistic News" certification. This would serve the purpose of creating a certification for news outlets that choose to operate in accordance with the standards created. This certification will create a legally distinguishable "Journalistic News" product so that the "news consumer" can differentiate journalistic news from entertainment news, propaganda campaigns, and public relations campaigns. As no news outlet is required to abide by the journalistic standards, it avoids the censorship trap. The creation of a "Journalistic News" certification would also serve the purpose of creating an ad revenue market to sustain funding for journalists whose job it is to keep the citizenry informed. This model has been successfully implemented for organic food and this petition is merely transferring the model to apply to news outlets. Your action towards creating this certification is greatly appreciated and will serve your legacy.

Believe that a healthy press is a requirement of a government that represents its people, and believe that healthy public citizenry is dependent on a healthy press,
and recognize that much of our press has become entertainment or propaganda disguised as journalism, and recognize that censorship of media outlets will not solve the issue, move to create a higher standard of news certification based on higher journalistic standards.
Much in the same fashion of "Organic" certification for foods, the "Journalistic News" certification for press outlets would create a separation between lesser standards news and higher standards news.
This is no way is censorship of the media as there is not a requirement for certification, but rather certification is a way of creating a legal distinction between entertainment/propaganda news and journalistic news for the end of having a truly informed citizenry.
Creating a certification like this will also serve the purpose of creating an ad revenue market for journalism so that our needed journalist will be funded.
