Extension of unemployment $

Labor Day 9-7-09: 9.7% of the population is unemployed.  This does not include those whose unemployment insurance has already run out of extensions, and there have been 3 to date.  Job loss is expected to continue to increase even as the economy begins to improve.  Obama has taken care of the corporate financial hemorrhage with the financial Recovery Act (see www.whitehouse.gov) and now we need legislation to keep citizens afloat financially until the economy can support them with job growth.

To do that, each state legislature must pass a bill to automatically renew and fund unemployment insurance claims BEFORE THEY EXPIRE so that there is NO BREAK IN UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE CHECKS until the recipient has found an acceptable job which would terminate their UI checks.  This State bill needs to be augmented with Federal allocation of monies for this purpose at the state level, and must be enacted AS SSON AS POSSIBLE.

Contact your State and Federal legislators to bring this urgent life threatening crisis to their attention for their IMMEDIATE ACTION or else prepare to fall into the bottomless hole where people go who are not counted any longer as 'unemployed (e.g. receiving UI benefits)' or as 'employed.'
We, the undersigned, respectfully and URGENTLY CALL UPON YOU to enact a bill at each State and Federal level that will IMMEDIATELY extend unemployment insurance benefits at current benefit amounts.  All extensions will be automatic until the recipients haves accepted work.  The extensions will also apply to past recipients whose unemployment insurance benefits have already expired but who have not found a job or have accepted an underemployed status.

The bill will also include Federal allocation of monies to augment what State budgets can not provide.  To meet the cost of the unemployment insurance benefit extension, State and Federal taxes will be levied upon every person who makes more than $100,000 gross per year or upon every household which makes more than $150,000 gross per year.

This bill will take effect immediately by Presidential Executive Order and will remain in effect until the national unemployment rate has remained at 1% of the adult working aged population for a period of one year.

Thank you for your mindful attention.
