Please convict those that killed wolves

  • da: L. Hurt

In early December a wolf pup has been killed on a forest road in eastern Saxony near the border to Poland. The wolf tried to escape and was running over 100 metre, but has had no chance as there were fences on both sides of the road. The car did not brake and was running intentionally over the wolf, despite the fact that wolves are protected under German laws. In May 2011, a young wolf was found shot dead and the case has recently been closed as no culprit has been found. 2 other wolves died in October 2011 under mysterious circumstances on a road as if they had been chasing by someone. However this was impossible to prove. There are less than 50 wolves in Saxony and wildlife crimes are not been taken seriously enough by German courts. Thousands of raptors are poached every year and if the poacher gets convicted, the sentence is rarely deterrent. Wildlife crimes are not only crimes against animals, wildlife crimes are crimes against those people that try everyday (often on a honorary base) to protect our nature. Wildlife crimes are crimes against future generations.

Dear Sir,

we the undersigned
would like to ask you that you do your best to convict the people that killed wolves in your country.
Wolves are protected under German laws and are still an endangered species in Germany.
