QARR HORSES BEING NEGLECTED @ MEADOWGATE!

Due to financial difficulties we have been experiencing at Quarter-Acre Rescue Ranch & Equine Advocacy Center, we had to re-home our four rescued horses. Two of the mares had hoof issues that needed medical care that we were unable to provide them. Doc Barnes from Saratoga Equine took exrays of Ms. Stoney Sanchez' RF foot and declared her to have laminitis. Our farrier said she would need corrective trimming every two to three weeks. Doc Barnes also looked at the old injury on Dial Kathys Clown rear hock and suggested ultrasounds be done to acertain the exact nature of the injury. Knowing that we would not be able to afford any of this, on March 13, 2008 we "surrendered" (signed-over) all four of the Qarr horses  of to Beth Hill Ross of New England Equine Rescues (NEER). Pursuant to the provisions of NEERs own surrender form, it was our understanding that NEER would keep the horses and attempt to place them into approved homes "through normal adoption procedures." The surrender form also stipulated that NEER would give us occasional updates on the progress of our horses from time to time. However, we soon learned that NEER did not keep our horses but gave them outright to Pam Watros of MeadowGate Equine Rescue, an organization that no one had ever heard of prior to these events. Moreover, NEER gave our horses over with NO contracts in place whatesoever that would protect them from things like breeding or an uncertain futures. We called Pam Watros from MeadowGates on the evening of March 13, 2008 to ask what were her intentions for the Qarr horses, and much to our suprize we were told  by Pam herself that she would like to breed them. I let her know that when we surrendered our horses to NEER it most certainly WAS NOT our intention to allow them to be given away or bred. We know NEER has a NO BREEDING policy and thought that would be sufficient protection enough, but since NEER didnt keep them and gave them away with NO stipulations, Pam is free to do with them what she wants and is under NO legal obligation to even talk to us. I let Pam know I was NOT happy at the prospect of our horses being bred, and reminded her of the mares compromised feet and hoof issues. Pam told us that she would have her vet come down an evaluate them to see if they would be suitable for breeding. Well, the latest word from NEER is that MeadowGates did have the vet down to evaluate our horses but word is that the vet COULD FIND NO EVIDENCE of laminitis in Chezy and he did not think Kathys swelling was of any concern.....soooooo, apparently Chezy IS NOT going to get any treatment for her laminitis and Kathy will NOT get her ultrasounds. The main reason we parted with these horses is to get those two the veteinary care they needed so I guess all was in vain. NICE SAVE NEER!
Please sign this petition to ask Pam Watros of MeadowGate "Rescue" who was the name of her vet that said Chezy did not have laminitis cause our vet, Doc Barnes of Saratoga Equine would like to talk to him. Doc Barnes is a well respected equine vet who specializes in lameness issues and he dosent like it when people go around saying he is wrong! Tell Pam Watros to name her vet so Doc Barnes can talk to him about the REAL condition of Chezys feet and of the NEED for ultrasounds for Dial Kathys Clown. Please tell Pam Watros to make sure the Qarr horses get the proper foot-care they need, and while you're at it,  remind her NO BREEDING OF THE QARR HORSES PLEASE!

*If anybody is interested, I can send pics of Chezys exrays and you can see for yourself what they say: laminits, digital decent.....now that dosent go away or heal by itself, does it? Didnt think so. Pam - do the right thing and take proper care of the Qarr  horses!
Thanks for caring signers.
