Repeal North Carolina Vehicle Inspections

North Carolina's crash data from the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) shows the number of cases in which a vehicle's mechanical condition may have contributed to an accident was only 1 percent of all crashes statewide.
North Carolinians spend $141 million annually on inspections. It costs the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and the Division of Air Quality $40.8 million to administer both inspection programs.
There were no increases in accidents after South Carolina and Nebraska repealed their inspection laws.It is time to end this waste of time and money for the residents of North Carolina.
We the undersigned are tired of  wasting our time , our hard earned money and our tax dollars on the North Carolina Vehicle Safety Inspection.  In these hard economic times, we simply cannot  afford the lost time from work or the extra expense.  Studies have shown that more than 95% of automobile mishaps are due to operator error.  Studies have also found that less than 3% of vehicles made after 2002 fail inspection. We The People would like to see an end to this.Thank you for your time.
