Why do we text and drive? Why did this have to take the precious lives of Toni and baby Ryan to make us realize how increasingly deadly this is to ourselves and other people? When is enough really enough?
Tragically, this subject hit close to home early this month when Toni Bolis, a New Jersey resident, was killed in a car accident nine months pregnant with her unborn son, R.J.. She and baby Ryan sadly lost their lives, leaving behind her husband and 2-year-old daughter, to someone who couldn't wait. Was it really that important for the person to take their eyes off the road to look at their device? No, and sadly we all do this every single day.
As the title depicts, we need to stop texting and driving, or doing anything that can distract us from keeping our eyes on the road. Here at Smartphone Boss, we want to do as much as we can with the resources we have to raise awareness of this issue not only in New Jersey, but throughout the United States. Toni's family and friends recently asked everyone to wear green for a day in Toni and baby Ryan's memory to help bring this issue to people's attention. Thousands of people showed their support and this drove us to jump in and help in any way possible. Bringing awareness to one more person can save one more life.
There are no legitimate reasons why we can%u2019t wait until our next stop to see what that text or phone call was for. We all need to take action and make a promise to ourselves that we will be more cautious and not get distracted by anything while driving. People have loved ones who travel every single day, and for that we want to make sure that we don't get distracted while driving, so those loved travel home safely.
