Treat gun permits like drivers' licenses-valid anywhere

It has often been said that guns should be licensed like cars. While we believe that carrying guns for self-defense is a more fundamental human right than driving a car, as long as we live in a world that does require licenses or permits for most gun carrying in most places, such licenses or permits should be treated the same as drivers licenses. That is a license/permit issued by one's home state should be valid in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia, and all U.S. territories. For states that don't require a permit/license for open carry (such as New Hampshire) or concealed carry (such as Vermont) these states could issue their citizens licenses/permits valid in other states while still not requiring them within their own borders.
In addition, the U.S. government should pursue diplomacy to bring about reciprocating agreements with other countries to allow citizens right-to-carry on foreign soil.
