Cancer, Alzheimer's and cardiovascular disease take two million lives each year in the United States and are bankrupting our economy.
We should insist that Congress pass legislation to reform the medical research and development process for terminal illness drugs. How?
1. Reduce government approval requirements for terminal disease drugs by 2/3 by removing "phase III trials."
2. Transform the National Institutes of Health (NIH) by focusing all research directly on cures with milestones, accountability and proven project managers.
3. Encourage Health Savings Accounts (HSA) that would increase patient access to drug trials.
4. Create a FDA/NIH and drug industry parternship.
This would result in a transformation of the quest for cures and save millions of lives while solving the American healthcare cost crisis.
