Citizens for Fair Water Sanitation Policy in the SCV

  • da: Steve Petzold

The SCV Sanitation District is soliciting the public's input for chloride reduction solutions until July 24, 2013.

The standard for chloride was set in an arbitrary and capricious manner by the  state of California.  There is no rational  reason to make massive capital investments and fund massive operating expenses that will waste community resource and prove  harmful to the environment.

I urge the members of the SCVSD to reject each and every proposed method of chloride reduction and for the city of Santa Clarita to initiate a lawsuit  to challenge the strict 100 mg/L standard for chloride imposed upon the residents of the district.

This petition was amended on 6/28/13 @ 11:19 AM to include the  note from Maria Gutzeit, president of Newhall Water  and a trained chemist working to improve our ecological environment. I concur with her opinion and share it in the hope of making this petition as honest as possible

NOTE: There are administrative options to discuss prior to legal action HOWEVER I urge our elected officials to excercise every option to protect ratepayers and follow sound science in dealing with our water supply and environment. The present course is not acceptable. Thank you.

It is my opinion that this petition will be more effective if only those people who live in the Santa Clarita Sanitation District sign it.  We thank you for your support.  Steve Petzold
