Removing Outerwear or Removing Individuality?

It is understandable that many students had abused the uniform policy in prior years but why must everyone get punished for the few individuals who cannot follow rules? Wearing sweaters and hoodies should be something that is allowed. What happens if you are cold in the middle of class and cannot even concentrate on the lecture? Are you just supposed to deal with it just because you don’t have BioTECH merchandise? I, myself, along with many of my peers, have confronted faculty about ideas for designs that go completely unheard. It seems as if the only way to be heard is if you have some sort of position in student government. There are students who do not like the designs that have been released. That is fine since not everyone has the same taste. Think about it, why would you spend $25-$30 on something you wouldn’t wear? With that being said, some students are not fortunate enough to have such “luxuries”. There are things that come before BioTECH approved sweaters such as food, water, shelter, etc. Apparently, warmth has a price now as well. I have spoken to many students before on campus who do not have certain privileges. It is understandable that not all students follow rules but why must everyone be punished for the handful that cannot obey?
