Dog breeding is an unsafe practice. The use of dog breeding leads to various issues such as health problems and overpopulation. Numerous participates in the industry do not meet the needs of proper care for the animals. It causes the animals, who did not ask for a part in the industry, to be left with long term health issues. Also, the breeding industry tends to attempt to meet a trend set by the buyers. Breeding the animals to meet trends further contributes to the health risks.
There are a variety of policies and laws that can be enforced to help protect the lives of the animals we holds dear. There is the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) but the act is stated to only have participates in the industry to meet the minimal standards. Also, there are numerous loopholes in the act such as the allowance of animals to be sold online still. We must demand policies and regulations to be created to save the animals from the harsh fate of the industry. We must demand it now.
