The U.S. Should Oppose the Global Trophy Hunting Trade

Trophy hunting is an ongoing issue that causes concern for many.  Luckily there has been much progress in raising awareness to people regarding such an important, controversial issue.  It is considered a “sport” but efforts are to stop the global trophy hunting trade.  You can read more on this crucial issue at http://www.onegreenplanet.org/animalsandnature/you-can-help-end-trophy-hunting/

Trophy hunting is a poor tool for conservation and may, in fact, fuel the illegal trade of species at risk of extinction in the wild. This is especially true for elephants, rhinos, tigers and other iconic species prized by poachers.

We the undersigned strongly urge you to call for the rejection of 1979's Resolution Conf. 2.11 of the Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species (CITES).  You can help us in this effort by signing and sharing this petition.  We have to ask the U. S. Wildlife officials to stand up for imperiled species by calling for the rejection of trophy hunting as a conservation tool.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, CITES Committee – We fully support your proposal to again raise up the issue of how CITES treats trophy hunting. Please ensure that you stand up for imperiled species by calling for the rejection of trophy hunting as a conservation tool.
