Once a movement forms it needs to provide a focus and direction for that movement or it disappears. The "Occupy" movement needs to be focused and focused quickly.
"Hold Them Accountable" is a concept that can easily accomplish that purpose. It is applicable to every arena - government, business, environment, etc. and is a common denominator that can be applied to every situation related to this burgeoning movement. More important, it is a call to action that can be understood by anyone. You don't have to be an expert to ask the question, "Why did you make the decision you did" and wait for the answer so you can then act on that information. It doesn't require any special training to be an "expert" and it requires (eventually if it becomes a mantra and is asked enough times by enough people) an answer. It's proactive and puts the person or entity being questioned on the defensive and will give the movement time to plan its next steps in that direction. It also weeds out the criminals, incompetents and unpatriotic elements while at the same time show casing the good people in government, business etc.
Potentially, a very powerful force being born here - it needs an initial focus and direction. That initial focus can be the simple phrase. "Hold Them Accountable".
We as a people are responsible for the quality of our leaders. If we don't demand and fight for excellence, truth and accountability in our leaders we'll get what we have now and that will only get worse. There is also the very distinct possibility of major violence. We all should remember we are the best armed population in the world and revolution here would be very nasty indeed - better to hold miscreants accountable, weed out the bad actors and fix the system before it reaches the point where it explodes as in the middle east.
Our President is in trouble in very great part because he has so far failed to hold anyone accountable - from Wall Street to BP to the SEC to the ATF - it appears that job has been left to "we the people". I hope "we" are up to the task.
If you are upset about B of A - call up the President of the bank and ask him personally what the reasoning was behind what they did. If you are upset about Wall street - call up the President of the United States and ask him why he didn't "Hold Anyone Accountable" for the governments failure to act on enforcement of the laws and mandates governing Wall Street. Tell all your friends to do the same. Do it once a day until you get an answer and watch what happens. Find out what we are really up against with a simple call.
