It has come to my knowledge that "American Idol" is indeed, rigged. and they don't even bother to let their contestants have a say in what they want. In a recent article posted on yahoo! where former season 8 semi-finalist Ju'Not Joyner explains that the whole competition was rigged and he goes on to say this statement: "They pay for our lawyers to negotiate against their lawyer (which is BS)," he said. "They make us COLLECTIVELY choose the lawyer, then they act like it's in our best interest. Craziest stuff I've ever seen. I have a son to feed. I HAD to ask questions and know what I was signing. Plus I write my own songs and I needed to know details...Some folks were like, 'Just shut up and sign on the dotted line.' I know better than that...I wasn't complaining...I was asking basic legal questions. There's a huge difference between the two."
The article goes on to state that Ju'Not--who by his own account was labeled a "troublemaker" by
Idol producers for questioning the contract (which he dubbed a "slavetract") that all auditioners are required by Fox/19 to sign.
Article four of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights CLEARLY states:
No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms
Article 19 Clearly states:
Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers. These producers need to wake up and realize that they are violating human rights by making these contestants sign a contract that can possibly strip them of their freedom. The "American Idol" producers may think they own these contestants, their life stories and performances and what not. But really, all that belongs to the contestants.
We the Undersigned,
As fans of "American Idol", we love the show however, as we also support the aspect of human rights we've noticed that "Idol" has a dark side to its 'dreams come true' platform.
Out of respect for the future contestants of this competition, please stop taking advantage of them and their families with your contracts that allow this kind of behavior.
Thank you for your time and paitience.
