ARGUMENT FOR THIS PETITION:
By signing this petition, we ask that Congress provide to us that which we have provided to them for generations: State-of-the-art, Universal Health Care. No copays, no pre-existing conditions. Healthcare for all.

The healthcare coverage being offered in the work place is becoming increasingly worthless. Any American making less than $200k per year is one catastrophic disease from the street.

WE are the only first world country whose government does not utilized the citizen's tax dollars for quality Universal Health Care. WE are now the ones with the bad teeth. WE are the ones that die waiting in line for necessary surgeries. WE are the ones living shorter lives.

Why aren't WE getting the same security for our tax dollars as all other first-world countries, like Japan, Canada and Europe?

IF THEY CAN AFFORD IT, WE CAN AFFORD IT:
After being bombed into near oblivion in WWII (1939-1945), Great Britain and Germany each had universal medical coverage for ALL of their citizens by 1948. Today, they have much better healthcare than America because their people get excellent medical services throughout their lives, from prenatal care, through geriatrics.  Investigate this.  It is much, much more expensive and ineffective the way we do it now.

As it is, our medical system is geared toward withholding healthcare until the patient is in crisis, then patching them together and sending them home prematurely without proper rehabilitation, homecare, or protection from infection. And if the patient can't afford their medications, the crisis will repeat often resulting in longterm illness before death.

In Europe, the incentive is toward timely, consistent healthcare delivery throughout one's life.  It's cheaper and more effective this way.

WE CAN HAVE THIS. All we have to do is insist that our Representatives give to us what we've provided to them for generations! We have just spent $1.2 trillion on the war in Iraq. When do we invest in our own people? In our own future?

I am a nurse who will no longer take part in this farce we call healthcare delivery in the United States. I have watched patients be denied necessary care for nearly 20 years and I am sick of it. I have watched as patients languish without care in hospitals due to short-staffing because the hospitals have a greater allegiance to their stockholders than their patients.

Since when was caring for the sick a profit making venture? The only way to make money off the ill and infirm is to have them pay up front, then when the time comes to deliver, refuse them services. That is healthcare in America in a nutshell.

We talk about the expense of healthcare. Stockholders involved in the healthcare "industry" , besides being morally reprehensible, are nothing more than another expense and therefore a barrier between the patient and quality healthcare.

The healthcare coverage being offered in the work place are becoming increasingly worthless. Any American making less than $200k per year is one catastrophic disease from the street.

WE are the only first world country who's government does not utilized the citizen's dollars for quality Universal Health Care. WE are now the ones with the bad teeth. WE are the ones that die waiting in line for necessary surgeries. WE are the ones living shorter lives. WE are the only society that refers to healthcare as an "industry" without batting an eyelash.

Not only have we become the multitudinal screwed, we slowly have become complicit in our own humiliation by our language and our conciousness.  Wake Up!  Help change this disaster we call healthcare in America.  Demand Universal Healthcare Now.

Baron Winston Smith

We the undersigned ask that the United States Congress use our taxpayer dollars to provide Universal Health Care Coverage to all American citizens on par with that which is provided by governments such as Canada and the European countries toward the healthcare of their citizens.

This includes but is not exclusive to: medical paid time off as ordered by a qualified physician, wellness plans, mental health rehabilitation, post-op rehabilitation, occupational and physical therapies, family practice including pre-natal care through geriatric care, day care, necessary surgeries, assisted living for the elderly, home health care for the infirm, and nursing home care for the disabled and advanced geriatric conditions including hospice care; including all medications prescribed by qualified physicians of the patient's choice and without regard to pre-existing medical conditions.

This is considered a RIGHT in other developed countries and it should be considered so by Congress toward the citizens of the United States.

The taxpayers of this country have generously provided Congress with excellent Universal Health Care Coverage at no cost to them and it is time that Congress returned the favor.
