Bats and Birds Could Be at Risk From This New Housing Development

Anyone who has spent time in Wales knows that it is a beautiful, mountainous peninsula. In fact, the country is home to significant ancient woodlands that provide habitat for mice, bats, and birds of prey, among other animals.

But a new housing development proposal to build 460 new homes in Miskin, Wales could impact the local ecology, and residents are rightfully worried. We must urge the Rhondda Cynon Taf Council to halt the construction plans until the full impact of the development is understood!

Sign now to demand the Rhondda Cynon Taf Council pause these plans until experts have finished conducting formal ecological assessments!

Locals have repeatedly expressed concern about the noise pollution and increased traffic that will come as a result of this hasty development.

Bats in particular are very sensitive to habitat disturbances, which can impair their health and cause chronic stress. And since an impact on one species can throw off an entire ecosystem, decreases in local bat populations could in turn affect hawks, owls, and other raptors that call the area home.

Currently, experts are conducting a report on wildlife impacts, but it won't be complete until summer. If developers are claiming that this construction is safe and will not affect the local ecology of the Cefn yr Hendy fields, why can't they wait until these ecological assessments are completed?

The Rhondda Cynon Taf Council must hold off on approving this construction project until experts have revealed the full effect it will have on wildlife! Sign the petition now if you agree!
