Govern Street Performers in Baddeck and Victoria County

Due to the fact that the peace and tranquility of village life has been detrimentally affected by ungoverned street performers, this petition asks that the governing bodies of Baddeck and Victoria County immediately take action by creating a bylaw specifically addressing street performances.

We, the undersigned, respectfully request that the governing bodies of Victoria County and the Village of Baddeck immediately instate a Street Performer bylaw. We ask that this bylaw, regardless of intent for financial gain, require all street performers to audition; purchase a license; perform in designated and assigned areas; and, respect outlined performance hours. It is our opinion that: the taxpayers of the County and Village should be able to choose their entertainment; hired musicians should not, during their performances, have to compete with street performers; businesses, their employees and patrons should not be exposed to a continuous barrage of entertainment; and, tourists should have an option to enjoy the natural sights and sounds of our region rather than the on-going offerings of street performers.
