Dear Very Important people of Columbia and the Parks and Recreation Department,
We need a “Pups Just Want to Have Fun" Campaign to build an outstanding Woodland Park dog park. Dog parks are not just for the dog’s entertainment though, these parks fill a greater need. Many people who are new here or have trouble interacting with other people find their dog to be a common ground. This common ground fills a socialization need that many citizens of Maury County cannot find anywhere else. Below is an excellent statement from Dr. Lynette Hart, director of UC Davis' Center for Animals in Society —
"Dogs facilitate friendly interactions among people, as they so actively solicit play and offer greetings. Establishing a dog park creates a community center of activity where friends and neighbors gather to relax. Users of dog parks are self-policing so as to maintain the appealing environment. Creating dog parks is a method for more efficiently educating dog guardians and facilitating them in assuring excellent behavior with their dogs."

Yes this will absolutely be a great place for dogs, their owners and dog lovers of all shapes and sizes to congregate, socialize, and exercise. By fulfilling this need you have created one more avenue for a happier Columbia and another reason to Come on Down to Maury County!
