cut out dissection at Lakeview Middle School

Dissection in schools teaches students no respect for life. If they are encouraged to slice open animal corpses why is the connection between this and violence not made. At Lakeview my eighth grade class is dissecting frogs sometime in the next few months. There is no written alternative and I've been told teachers are not required to provide one. The school doesn't care where these frogs came from or about their inhumane deaths. Something they do care about, however, is money. A computer generated program is a lot cheaper than the hundreds of frog bodies they currently buy. This would leave a lot more funding that can be used for things like feild trips, better lunches, and artr supplies. So, you may ask, "why don't they make the switch?" I have e-mailed with the head of curriculum and she blew me off by telling me that they weren't examining the science curriculum at this time. In my oppinion they are just to lazy to go through the prosses. The school won't listen to one kid so I'm asking for your help. Please sign this petition to show the board we won't back down. Students of Lakeview please attach a comment saying you refuse to dissect. Together we can stop this.
