Ramapo College Democracy Matters urges the Senate to pass S.1. For The People Act

The For The People Act is a vital piece of democracy reform legislation that will help to make our elections in the U.S. more free and fair for all, strengthen ethics, and take the influence of big money out of politics. Some of the things that the For The People Act will institute are:

-institute automatic voter registration nationwide
-requite states to provide opportunities for early voting
-expand vote by mail
-make election day a federal holiday
-establish a “Freedom from Influence Fund” that would allow for public financing of elections
-fight gerrymandering by requiring states to use independent commission to draw their congressional districts
-require the current president and vice president (and candidates) to disclose their tax returns for the past ten years

The Ramapo College Chapter of Democracy Matters urges that the U.S. Senate pass The For The People Act. It will make voting easier and more accessible not only for Ramapo College students but for everyone.
