Investigate the Carrasco Brothers for Animal Cruelty

Spain was rocked last week when it learned that one of its major sausage producers — El Pozo — was buying their meat from a farm that could only be called a house of horrors.

In an undercover expose, animal rights activists gained entry to a farm owned by the Carrasco brothers located in the Murcia region of Spain only to find animals in a shocking state. Pigs with abscesses and hernias the size of footballs, strange lesions and deformities, and vats of dead and dying pigs oozing with maggots.

This is where some of the most popular sausages sold in Spain and other countries were coming from. It is truly a sight to turn your stomach.

Many of the animals were without food or water and none had received veterinary care despite one of the brothers being a renowned veterinary professional in the region.

El Pozo has already cut ties with the provider but is that enough? The lack of humanity with which these animals were treated should be met with legal consequences by the Spanish government.

The Carrasco brothers' farm must be investigated for animal cruelty and take measures to make sure this horror never occurs again.
