Our children are not being treated fairly and consistently in Croesyceiliog Comprehensive school in regards to not having the freedom to remove their school jumper when they feel the need to. Children are being forced inconsistently by teachers to wear the school jumper into each and every lesson and are expected to request permission from the teacher to remove it. Children are often refused permission to remove their jumper which leaves our children hot and bothered, increasing their dehydration, reducing their concentration on education whilst they are focusing on how hot they are and trying to gain permission from the teacher to allow them to remove their jumper. This puts our children in a poor state to receive education. The need to request permission is also disruptive to the lesson and eats into the teaching time. If a class of 30 children, each taking approximately 30 seconds to ask and gain approval to remove their jumper from the teacher, this would waste 15 minutes of each 1 hour lesson, of which pupils attend 5 per school day. Following principles of normality, the pupils should be given the responsibility to establish for themselves, as individuals, their own body temperature and remove or put on their jumpers when they feel the need to do so.
Is this "rule" promoting the welfare and education of our children? I think not.
Please sign this petition to move the school to review this absurd policy. Enable our children to get the most out of their education, focus on education and not on jumpers. Pupils will still be appropriately and smartly dressed with a shirt and Croesyceiliog tie or the school badged polo shirt. Put your children's welfare and education first! Sign the petition for the school to stop refusing pupils permission to remove their jumpers and to stop the requirement for pupils to ask permission to remove their jumpers. Jumper justice!!
