Missouri Needs an Accredited Home-school Program...

Most states offer a home based schooling program that is accredited, so that all children, no matter what their academic, physical or emotional needs are, can acquire a good education. Some schools offer to allow their students to take their curriculum home where they can complete it and bring it back, as well as offer help from teachers for the courses, in order to complete K-12.  Missouri does not offer any of these options.

The only home-school based program that is “affordable” for us in Missouri, is a non-accredited program with no teacher/professional assistance.  There is not help available to our children for this program. I myself have 3 children home-schooled, and know of 20 others in my small country town of 300 people. There are many children that are homeschooled Missouri, we unfortunately do not have the best funding for our schools, and when the school fails to help our children we should have options to help them ourselves. Many people cannot afford to pay for the accredited home-school programs, which can range from $1600 - $4000 a year per student. One of my children is a straight A student, and now that she is getting into the higher grades of high-school, some subjects are harder and there is no help available.

My goal is to get an accredited home-based school available in Missouri, that our children can complete and still get a High school diploma, so they can still start college courses and get help from teachers through emails and video classrooms. I am not the only parent out there who has a problem with our local schools, or who wants my children to get the best education they can so they can have a chance to succeed in life. Please help our children, and all of Missouri’s children to get the best education possible, whether that be in class, or home taught!
