The Welsh Assembly Government has been in place now for 16 years. In that time the party in power, Labour, have run Wales in a similar way to the way the UK has been run for decades, in other words for the benefit of the South East and to the detriment of the rest of the country. They have invested a completely disproportionate amount in Cardiff and the South East whereas the amount invested in the rest of Wales pales in comparison.
Everyone would agree, I imagine, that a greater than average amount should be invested there because the South East is the area with the greatest population. Also because Cardiff is the designated Capital of Wales. But the balance has become shamefully skewed toward the South East. Billions have already been spent on making Cardiff the go to place in Wales for just about everything including World class sport and the ploy (as I would describe it) has worked. They now have the perfect excuse to invest even more billions on infrastructure, the reasoning being that, because millions of people go to Cardiff to make use of the facilities the current infrastructure can't cope. Of course, when the new improved infrastructure is in place even greater numbers will be able to visit Cardiff to use the facilities and the same argument will apply again in years to come.
The community i'm looking to help is not the village where I live, Llangyfelach, or the City, Swansea, but the whole of the rest of Wales. Those billions, spent wisely elsewhere would immensely improve the lives of the 75% or so of the population that live outside the South East bubble.
If we don't tell the Welsh Labour Party that they are wrong then they'll just continue in the belief that they are doing right by Wales. I don't believe they are. Hopefully you won't either.
