Republicans are waging an all-out war on democracy, civil rights, bodily autonomy, and even reality itself. They're censoring books, banning abortion, pushing lies, defending insurrectionists, and using the levers of power to attack their enemies and shield their corrupt allies.
Meanwhile, too many Democrats are still clinging to outdated ideas of "bipartisanship," hoping the other side will come to its senses via sternly-worded letters, expressions of "disappointment" and appeals to their better angels.
Those Republican better angels flew the coop years ago. It's a street fight, not a pillow fight, and we need to start acting like it.
There are some Democratic leaders who are already fighting back hard, and we salute them. But we need ALL Democrats in across the country to stop playing nice and start fighting like our rights and our democracy depend on it—because they do.
We are the majority. But we need our leaders to act like it.
