Captain SKA’s song about Theresa May, “Liar Liar GE2017”, has reached number 2 in the iTunes in addition to getting into the top 10 radio charts.
But radio stations are still refusing to play it.
The song has a powerful political message - challenging Theresa May on the NHS, education and poverty, and her multiple U-turns. It is a not-for-profit work by Captain SKA, with any funds generated going to food banks in the UK and the People’s Assembly Against Austerity.
Chart shows, including Capital FM Big Top 40, Heart Radio and BBC Radio 1, have a responsibility as broadcasters to show impartiality to all music. By refusing to play the song they are silencing popular political dissent and therefore unfairly taking a political stance.
