Actor and conservative Kirk Cameron has been invited to lunch with a group of bullied LGBT youth when he visits Ocean Grove, New Jersey for a "pro-marriage" event. Corey Bernstein, who is 17 and the co-chair of the Garden State Equality's Youth Caucus, sent the invitation to Cameron's manager, asking that he meet them on July 28th. As of now, no one has responded.
Cameron recently said that homosexuality is "unnatural, detrimental, and destructive", and that happiness only comes from traditional marriage. Bernstein said these comments "have devastated us".
Cameron has a lot to learn from these courageous individuals -- he needs to know how his comments have impacted them in a harmful way, and understand where the LGBT community is coming from. Please tell Kirk Cameron to accept this invitation to meet bullied LGBT youth!

Is is time for you to sit down with these folks and hear their side. It is time for you to take responsibility for your comments that have made a negative impact, and understand where the LGBT community is coming from.
