This petition is for all the people, STUDENTS, workers who have experienced the frequent 1 or 2 hour delays on the Quebec-Montreal-Toronto rail line.
Apparently this is because there is no DEDICATED rail line for passengers on VIA rail. Instead the line is owned by CN Rail, who use it for freight transport, and require VIA trains to wait while they use their line for their priority shipping. It also means that the rail line becomes bumpy because freight is often very heavy and damages the rails.
I think we can all agree that a dedicated line ( like a high-speed railway that they have in France). would make the journey far less tedious, and cut the time down from aproximately 6 hours to 2 hours hopefully.
Although Canada does not have such a high population as Europe, this new rail line should be considered a serious priority if we wish to encourage the prosperity and longevity of the main economic center of Canada ( Ie Ontario and Quebec)
