It was a blisteringly hot day in Trenton, Georgia. The heat index was in the 100s, and the only way to stay safe and comfortable was to lay low in cool or air conditioned places.
But a sweet bloodhound named Georgia was not able to stay safe and cool.
That's because the person who was supposed to be caring for her left her locked in a hot car instead -- and she was in there so long, she tragically died.What's even worse? Georgia's handler was a police officer, meant to protect and serve. Georgia was a police dog, and she was left to die inside a hot patrol car.

During that extended period, the patrol car's air conditioning broke and the heat alarm failed to activate.
Poor Georgia was all alone as she slowly roasted to death.Thankfully, the sheriff's office took immediate action and fired this careless, heartless officer. In its statement about the incident, it also noted that the case had been handed over to the Dade County District Attorney's Office in order to ascertain whether or not charges should be brought against the officer.
