An unequivocal request for a professional, respectful, and inclusive Bridgeport BOE

The leadership of Superintendent Levy-David and Chair Baptiste-Perez has created unprofessional, disrespectful, chaotic, and non-participatory Bridgeport BOE meetings. This petition requests the following changes in their behavior that will lead to professional, respectful, organized and inclusive meetings:

 The Chair will appoint all nine BOE members to a committee.

 All BOE members may comment during committee meetings.

 The most up-to-date by-laws will be posted online and followed at all meetings.

 Regular and Special BOE meetings and BOE Committee meetings will be held in-person except for an emergency.

 All BOE meetings must be conducted in community-friendly facilities that are audio and visually satisfactory for all. Hence, no Fairchild Wheeler High School.

 The date, time, and location of all BOE Meetings will advertised at all BPS schools as far in advance as possible.

 Meeting materials must be available for all BOE members and the public (online) at least 48 hours before all meetings.

 Minutes of all BOE Regular and Special Meetings and Committee meetings must be available on the BOE website no later than 7 days afterward, in compliance with CT’s FOIA laws.

 BOE Security and Bridgeport Police Officers will not be weaponized to intimidate BOE members or the public attending meetings.
