Amend and Pass the Due Process Guarantee Act!

Every year Congress and the Senate passes the military-spending bill, the National Defense Authorization Act, and the President signs it into law. This year they did the same, but they added some provisions that would take away our Due Process rights and detain us indefinitely if we are suspected of terror-related activities. If this sounds familiar, it's because this is exactly what happened after 9/11 to the Muslim community, and what is currently happening in Guantanamo Bay.

President Obama said he will not carry out the new provisions under the NDAA, but that does not guarantee future Presidents will do the same.

In response, Senator Feinstein and Congressman Garamendi of California introduced the Due Process Guarantee Act that would guarantee Due Process to all U.S. Citizens in the United States regardless of the allegations.

While we believe this is an important step to regaining our civil liberties, we believe it should do more. We are asking that the DPGA be extended to include all individuals inside the United States, and U.S. citizens travelling overseas. Under our Constitution, Due Process is guaranteed to all persons, not just citizens. We want to keep it that way. Please sign the petition to protect our civil liberties!
