Twin Creeks, is a small community of cabins in Santa Clara County. The landlord is currently involved in a dispute with the county over the quality of water. This has been going on since around October. The tenants are now being punished and forced to move because the county and the landlord can not resolve their issues with each other. A notice to vacate was posed by the Department of Planning and Development. This ordeal has caused a great deal of stress for the tenants of Twin Creeks.
One of the tenants had a stroke on Monday 2/6/17. Being forced to leave your home is at the very least stressful and at worst traumatic. Speaking for myself, I am an artist, my home is my studio. I CAN NOT afford the time it will take to pack up, move, and unpack. I have already turned down 3 freelance jobs this month due to the notice to vacate.
I don't think questionable drinking water makes the property uninhabitable. It doesn’t seem right that we can be forced to leave with NO warrant and NO court ordered eviction notice. The dept. of planning says that anyone occupying our homes after Feb 18th will be charged with a misdemeanor. All of this seems crazy to me and I need to know what my rights are.
Tell Santa Clara County to cancel the notice to vacate so that people can stay in their homes. Thank you!
