Election Day in the U.S. Should Be a Federal Holiday!

*UPDATE* We've got good and bad news. The good news is that Congress voted in favor of a free and fair democracy, and passed H.R. 1 in the House! The bad news is that Mitch McConnell is holding to his promise to do everything in his power to block its companion bill from passing in the Senate, therefore stopping it from ever becoming law. We need to keep the pressure on so that the Senate knows who they serve -- the people. Keep signing and sharing to demand that the U.S. Senate pass this bill!

Republicans are terrified of letting more Americans vote in elections.

Recently, Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell took the floor to rail against a new House bill that would, among other things, make Election Day a federal holiday — meaning many voters would actually have a paid day off during which they could use their time to participate in the democratic process.

McConnell admitted that these people would likely turn out to support the Democratic Party.

The Republican Party has long hid behind claims that it wants to curb voter fraud and other manufactured problems in order to limit the number of people who can vote. As such, it's time for all Americans to be given easy access to voting in our democratic elections -- add your name to this petition calling on the Senate to pass H.R. 1!
