Ban Use of Antibiotics in Livestock

Superbugs are causing at least 2 million illnesses each year, along with 23,000 deaths, and those are only the cases being reported. Medical experts say the overuse of antibiotics in human and animals has led to the increase of these potentially fatal illnesses. Approximately 80% of the antibiotics sold in the US are used as a preventative measure in livestock production. Developing stronger drugs to fight these superbugs is not the answer. Demanding Congress enact legistlation to make it illegal to administer antibiotics to livestock is one of our best options.
