Demand That The EPA Test For And Regulate All Pollutants in American Drinking Water

Safe drinking water isn't a privilege, but a right.

Yet when the Environmental Working Group (EWG) examined 28 million water records from 50,000 water utility companies across all 50 U.S. states, they discovered that American drinking water contains over 250 contaminants.

As their Tap Water Database explains, "When most Americans drink a glass of tap water, they're also getting a dose of industrial or agricultural contaminants linked to cancer, brain and nervous system damage, developmental defects, fertility problems or hormone disruption."

Even worse, the EPA has not added a new contaminant to the list of regulated pollutants under the Safe Drinking Water Act in 20 years, which means that more than half of the contaminants found in U.S. tap water have no legal limits; utilities don't have to test for them or tell their customers about them.

This is an outrageous assault on the health of the American people.

We demand that the EPA both test for and regulate all harmful pollutants in American drinking water.
