Stop HP's attack on PCS union - reinstate John Pearson

  • da: John Pearson
  • destinatario: Nick Wilson, Managing Director, HP UK

The transnational IT giant, Hewlett Packard, is attacking the PCS union, which organises workers at HP's UK sites.

The union's members have been taking industrial action, seeking pay rises, extension of collective bargaining and an end to mass redundancies.

Under UK law, employers must supply details of intended job cuts to recognised unions.

When the union's North West England Branch Secretary, John Pearson, forwarded to his members a list of 584 redundancies notified by HP in May 2013, HP suspended him from his job, charged with breaching company confidentiality.

PCS's demand for John's unconditional reinstatement has been rejected by HP's UK management. They say they are carrying out an investigation which may lead to disciplinary action.

It is outrageous that an employer has tried to intimidate elected union officers from informing and seeking instructions from the members they serve.

Sign this petition to demand that John Pearson be unconditionally reinstated.

Dear Mr. Wilson,

I support PCS's demand for the unconditional reinstatement of John Pearson

We sign this petition to show solidarity with members of the PCS union who work for your company in the UK.

We call upon you to overrule the action of your manager who has suspended the union's North West Branch Secretary, John Pearson, for informing his members of HP's currently planned redundancies.

This is an attack upon the independence of the union, whose elected officers have a duty to inform and to take instructions from, the members they serve.

We add our voices to PCS's demand for the unconditional reinstatement of John Pearson.

Yours Sincerely,
