This petition was started in memory of Javi and his family. Javi passed away after building FFF Fest and working a double shift. Javi was on the way home and fell asleep at the wheel. He left behind a beautiful wife,new born baby and 2 other children. Javi's employer did not have insurance so when this happened the family was left with nothing but a fundaraiser.

This petition is to raise awareness for Texas Senate to pay ATTN. since the EEOC won't.We have guys starving and wages being stolen everyday. Mexican Americans & African Americans are paid even less than Womens Unequal pay.
We need Equal Pay for Equal work in Texas.We need rights as the men & women who build a Billion dollar industry for our state.We need insurance & safety regulations.We work hard while contractors take advantage of us most of the time OT,DT and time in a half are NOT recognised but billed for.Federally addressing Equal rights for Equal pay while pushing rights for minority workers here in the HEART of Texas is our main focus.
Here women are not paid based on experience or skill.Theres a huge problem with Equal pay in Construction / Production AV work.Many times no matter seniority we are overlooked for promotions or men are hired with no skillset at the same rates as skilled craft rates.

Companies are contracting work while our rights have taken a back seat.Majority of these workers live paycheck 2 paycheck and can't afford the backlash of speaking up!
When an Employer or Contractor pays less than agreed or takes out "extra $$" sometimes these guys end up working while starving.However you will be fired if the Client gives you something to eat.
Women are subject to being videotapped, harassed or subjected to sexually inappropriate conversations. Half of the contractors exploit women so that they will be given more hours on the job. They are forced to share rooms with the opposite sex while on the road touring. Some workers sleep 5 to a room in bathtubs, on floors 2 to a bed while charging clients full price. This is a disgusting lack of Basic Human Rights we need to change.

In our industry workers in Texas are almost always exploited in one way or another.Having regulations never really imposed and complaints on Labor Exploitation,Discrimination,Wage theft,Tax Evasion etc.have all fallen on deaf ears through management throughout almost all of our main contractors.As well as every year cheaper and cheaper wages, 4-5 guys sleeping in a room on the road.Lack of insurance and workers passing away after double shifts.Falling from 250ft or more because there aren't tieoffs in the venue ceiling.Which if this happens the concert or Tradeshow still goes on.Lack of water provided on jobsites especially in 115-120° heat index plus.Kidney failures,lack of promotions to seniority due to gender discrimination.I speak on behalf of these workers throughout Texas and demand change! We are asking the Senate and Attorney General to create a new way to regulate these major companies.As well as OSHA to help reinforce saftey concerns during festivals.These same contractors have been subbing out skilled labor for cheaper contract prices putting everyone on stage and in the crowds at risk.
