On April 15, 1984 the world lost one of its best and most cherished comedians, the incomparable Tommy Cooper! Cooper died to the sound of laughter and applause during the live television program "Live From Her Majesty's" of a heart attack, he was only 63 years of age. Since that fateful night, television broadcasters (with one exception) have refused to reair the ghastly footage out of respect to Mr. Cooper and his family.
Sadly, however, the streaming video platform, YouTube, has not been as respectful and have chosen to continue to ignore demands from both family and fans alike to remove the footage from their website. I, as well as many fans of Mr. Cooper's work, feel the individuals uploading this footage to the site, be it in a standalone video or a compilation of "Shocking TV Deaths", are exploiting the footage and more importantly Cooper's tragic death to gain views and even profit off of an event so grim that it will be forever ingrained in to the minds of the people who witnessed it in the theatre and at home. This petition was created to not only remove the existing videos currently up on the site, but also to prohibit anyone from uploading the footage in the future. I am here to preserve the legacy of the man and his career, and wish he be remembered only for his humor and magic and NOT the tragic circumstances surrounding his death.
