Change the sex offender marriage law
In Iowa if you marry a registered sex offender, they can be around your children. I have a step son whose mother has done just this and because of Iowa law, he(the registered sex offender) is allowed to be around my stepson. I am trying to get the Iowa law changed that if you MARRY a REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER, you can not have custody of your children if the sex offender lives with you till the child turns 18.
The police are finding that sex offenders are getting with women with young kids and priming them and abusing them. This is sexual, mental and physical abuse. Please help me get this law changed by signing the petition, pass it along and have everyone you know sign it.

We the undersigned have petitioned to get the Registered sex offender marriage law changed. My life consist of a daily struggle to keep a child safe from a registered sex offender that has charges of 1st degree criminal sexual assault charges. Due to the law that you put into effect July 2010, my stepsons mother has married a sex offender and is allowed to have her 12 year old daughter and 9 year old son stay weekends with her and she is trying and get full custody so they can live with her full time. I am asking that this law be changed to: You may not have custody or overnight visits with your children if you marry a registered sex offender and the sex offender lives with you. Also I am asking that the sex offender not be allowed around the child. I am asking that we protect our children from predators and not allow full access to the children.
