MAKE TOUGHER LAWS FOR ANIMAL ABUSERS

COME ON PEOPLE WE CAN GET MORE SIGNATURES THAN THIS!WHERE ARE ALL THE ANIMAL LOVERS THAT WANT THE LAWS CHANGED!!!!!!
Today i spoke with many people in regards to animal abusers and how too many times they get off with very little punishment.I spoke with the office of Governor Edward Rendell (pa.),the A.S.P.C.A.,H.S.U.S.,and Rescue Ink;about what we at care2 can do to make animal abusers more accountable for there actions.(by the way elections are coming up,so that is on our side if we push hard enough)My plan is to push very hard.
My short-term goal is the state of Pa. because that is where i live,my long-term goal is all states.
First i want to say a few things about the morons who don't think animal abuse is much of an issue.!)They argue that people feel that making animal cruelty a felony will "equate an animal with a humane"----I say i know some animals that are better than some people.
2)They argue that prosecutors are far too busy and prisons are far too crowded with criminals who have harmed humans,so they must give priority to humane cases;therefore animal abuse should not be viewed that seriously.3)they argue that it's "only an animal".Isay do they not know that evidence demonstrates that a person who is heartless enough to torture a defenseless animal is capable of almost anything.
Animal abuse has been defined as "socially unacceptable behavior that intentionally causes unnecessary pain,suffering,or distress to and/or the death of animal".
There are currently 6 states that have no felony law provisions.They are: Alaska,Arkansas,Idaho,Mississippi,North Dakota,and South Dakota; my personal opinion Alaska does not surprise me with Sarah Palin being there,i will say no more about that.
The most common forms of animal abuse are intentional cruelty and neglect,according to the American Society for the prevention of animals(A.S.P.C.A.)(2009).Other forms of abuse include hoarding,puppy mills,factory farming,and cockfighting.

So we can see from this that adults males are the worst,even in the children and teens males were worse.We see that women are more likely to do animal hoarding.
Many cases of animal cruelty is also considered the first step towards committing child and/or spousal abuse.
Treating or rehabilitating an abused animal requires time and patience.An abused animal will be wary,untrusting,and potentially aggressive in it's attempt  to protect itself.Most animals can be rehabilitated,some can't,either due to age,extent of abuse,or if the abuse was over a long period of time.It takes up to a year to rehabilitate an abused pet.
we need to push our elected officals to make punishment of these abusers much harsher the first time it occurs.And stop putting these animals back into known abuser homes.
There is a site i will give you,you can go there and see abusers names and what they did and the punishment they got.The BOLDFACE in the site means the offender also committed other crimes.It lists from a--Z,there are over 20,000 cases on the National Animal Abuse Registery!!! I found that almost incomprehensible.We can't discuss information from the site due to the fact that the case files are copyrighted,but you can go to ----

Update 5/20/10-Just wanted you to know what it is that i feel we need to do for these animals--Title 18,Section 5511,sub-section (c) cruelty to animals.To increase the fine and jail time for 1st time offenders,make sure that animal is not returned back into that home,give animal humane officers more authority,and have a mandatory mental evaluation as an ongoing process with the mental evaluator to follow them and determine if that abuser should ever own another animal and if so they are to be reevaluated and checked on by authorities frequently.This is what i will push for in pa.with the help of the Governor Rendell, A.S.P.C.A.,H.S.U.S., and Senator Vogel.
